JERSEY EVENING POST
Acclaimed violinist not to be missed. Anakay Koshka is an English violinist who appeared in several of Europe's major concert halls, as well as North and South America, while still in her teens. Fans of the instrument should not miss her performances as she has been described as ''an exciting musical presence'' by the conductor of the American Chamber Opera Company'', an ''expert performer'' by New York's Sightlines, as well as collecting various ''superbs'', ''gifteds'', and ''elegants'', in reviews from Bulgaria to Kent. Now she finds time to go to places she hasn't been before to give performances. She says that luck played a big part in her success, which is why she enjoys doing concerts in places she has not been before. ''I had hit all the major halls in my twenties-I have really been exceptionally lucky. Now I go to places and meet people and these contacts can lead on to other things'' Her studies began at an early age with English soloist Ralph Holmes, before moving on to the Royal Academy of Music, Junior, Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She now studies with Oleh Krysa and Glenn Dicterow. (Leader of New York Philharmonic Orchestra) Her talent has taken her all over the world, with performances in the Wigmore Hall in London, the Carnegie Hall in New York and even a two month tour of Brazil. Despite this success, she doesn't want to come across as a stand-offish virtuoso. ''I would not say I was a child prodigy, because that can put people off' she said. ''everyone says that they are a young prodigy and that can cause them big problems''. Instead she likes to say that if people persevere at what they want to do, then they can find success as well. ''you don't have to be wealthy or talented, if there's a will then there's a way''.
MUSWELL HILL GAZETTE

A former protégé of renowned British soloist Ralph Holmes, she has performed with the American Chamber Opera Company among others. Her playing has taken her all over the globe, from a two month tour in Brazil to the Wigmore Hall in London and Carnegie in Hall New York, which she describes as ''a fantastic size'' and a high point of her career.
HAM AND HIGH
Talk of New York... Anakay practicing outside Alexander Palace for her Carnegie Hall concert. Violinist Anakay Koshka has another string to her bow as she prepares to make a triumphant return to New York's Carnegie Hall. The London based musician, whose blond hair and virtuoso style are becoming a familiar sight in concert halls around the world, won rave reviews. Her talent has taken her to Brazil, Bulgaria, New York and Paris, performing with the top musicians. ''I love performing- it has a wonderful sense of energy.
YATTON MUSIC FESTIVAL
Will you please pass on our sincere thanks to Anakay for the excellent concert to which she treated us. Many local string players came to hear Anakay and were all impressed by her command of her instrument and the lack of balletic display to achieve the quality of music she demonstrated to an enraptured audience. I think some of the young people in the audience struggling with the violin were totally knocked out by Anakay's performance. Most indicated they had a new standard for which to aim-although one poor soul said she was going home to throw her violin, case and all, through the window! The rector wrote a wonderful 'thank you' to the Society in the parish magazine, of her memorable concert. I hope Anakay will retain her fond memories of Yatton and its fine 14th century, lofty, concert hall. Kindest regards Programme Planner.
KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA MUSIC SOCIETY
A gifted young artist, she played with an exceptional maturity and appreciation of the music; evident in the Cesar Franck Sonata in A Minor. Her programme was well chosen and she performed the Bartók Solo Sonata For Violin with expertise and confidence. Her recital was greatly enjoyed by an appreciative audience and the Society will follow her future career with much interest. Hon. Secretary Kensington and Chelsea Music Society.
CONDUCTOR AMERICAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
'Possessing a powerful technique, a keen sense of pitch and a warm glowing sound. Ms Koshka is an exciting musical presence'. Douglas Anderson.
CONDUCTOR
Having attended Anakay Koshka's concerts and having worked with her as a conductor with her on numerous occasions, I observe her to be a most engaging and charismatic young artist, possessing musical intelligence and maturity rarely encountered in one so young. Peter Bellino. Mannes College of Music.
CONDUCTOR
I have found Anakay Koshka to be a bright and insightful musician. Anakay demonstrates an elegant poise as well as a keen sense of phrase shaping. This clear yet highly logical approach makes for a very appealing and effective presentation. Rudolf Palmer. Juilliard School of Music.
VIOLINIST
Great passion for her violin and a unique musical outlook. Since her career has blossomed and she has performed in major concert halls throughout the world. She continues to be wholly dedicated to the violin and promises to go far, with many successes behind her and many successes to come. Erika Klemperer Back.
PIANIST
It was a great privilege to play Beethoven with you last night. You may quote me, you are a knockout and you have a great sense of humour besides. Nancy Garniez.
VIOLINIST
Immensely gifted, an elegant and persuasive interpreter of music in all styles. She is simply a virtuoso of the first order destined for a major international solo career. Oleg Krysa.
BRITISH EMBASSY SOFIA
I heard Anakay Koshka play the violin at a charity concert she organised in aid of a home for mentally handicapped children near Sofia. The concert was very well received, particularly her playing of a Bach unaccompanied sonata and of a modern piece by Wilkins. The tone she produced succeeded in filling Bulgarias main concert hall, which is where the event took place, she also managed apparently without difficulty, some extremely difficult spiccato passages in a piece by Wienawski. Second Secetary in The British Embassy.
WISBECH CAMBRIDGESHIRE
We were delighted to know that both you and Andrew had enjoyed your visit to us, and from the remarks of our audience they also enjoyed the concert. One person said that it was the best concert this season. Concert Secetary.
ST. JAMES'S CHURCH PICCADILLY
Dear Anakay, I have to thank you for your recital, which I understand was quite wonderful. What is a great compliment to you is that this was told to me last Friday by three recital goers who specifically came to the recital because you were playing your Bach. That they sought me out to tell me enforces their appreciation. My best wishes, as always. Programme Planner, The concert office.
ST. ANNE & ST AGNES
Anakay Koshka (violin). J.S Bach, Partita No 2 in D minor BWV 1004; Sonata No 1 in G minor BWV 1001.
Pure bliss. This was one of the most fabulous concerts yet: I felt as if I could have listened, enraptured, all day.
It seems ridiculous to be trying to pick things out from an amazing concert like this, and anyway I didn't want to even try to make notes because I felt so bound up in the atmosphere. Nevertheless I must just mention the ciaccona (chaconne) which is such a massive, profound movement that it takes your breath away. In fact I see it gets a pretty good press (for example here on the Wiki) ....(In other words, no, it's not just me. Phew.) Hats off to Anakay for a truly stunning performance... ST. ANNE & ST AGNES
Anakay Koshka (violin), Alan Brown (piano)
Brahms A minor sonata, op. 100
1 By turns warm, dramatic, passionate and poignant.
2 Fabulously poised and beautiful.
3 Intense and energetic.
Sibelius D minor concerto op. 47
1 Woo blimey, virtuosic or what? Goodness me, I am all a flutter. I think I've played in this with Salomon (not as a soloist you understand). I do not, however, such have a very clear memory of it and in particular I don't remember this level of technical brilliance. Wonderful.
2 Ah I remember this bit- my ''tricky trumpet entry'' moment has just passed in the slow movement- much nicer on piano! (This is a place about which I become obsessionally scared when we did it in the orchestra. Not actually hard unless your me.)
3 The last movement was stunning.
Nice concert! Posted by Strawberryyog. Labels: Music.
ST. ANNE & AGNES
Anakay Koshka (violin) Alan Brown (piano).
Beethoven Sonata No 2 Op 12 in A major.
The first movement was ''dynamic but light, witty'' and that the Andante piu tosto was poised and gorgeous. Oh and I seem to have thought that the Allegro piacevole offered ''bright simplicity with moments of darker, more complex passion''.
Brahms Violin Concerto Op 77 in D major.
An exciting, passionate performance. I'm never sure about concerto transcriptions but this was a rather elegant argument in their favour. The slow movement here was particularly striking.
This was a very enjoyable concert and I'm glad I dragged my reluctant bones down the road to listen. Posted by Strawberryyog. Labels: Music.
